Certified Final Election Results for HD 83
Officials in both Lauderdale and Clarke counties have certified the final, complete and official November 8 election returns for House District 83. I am pleased that the official tallies confirm that our campaign carried both counties, won 60% (15 of 25) of the district’s precincts, and achieved a solid majority of the total vote cast in the three-way race. I am deeply grateful to the voters of District 83 for the confidence they have shown in me.
Here are the final, official district-wide vote totals:
SNOWDEN (Republican) 2,969 (52.05%)
HOUSTON (Democrat) 2,379 (41.70%)
THOMPSON (Independent) 356 ( 6.24%)
Total 5,704 (100.0%)
Legislative Republicans netted a pick-up of 10 House seats, including one post-election party-switcher, giving the GOP a new majority of 64 to 58 in the Mississippi House of Representatives, and Republican state senators expanded their own majority to 31-21. Republican Governor-elect Phil Bryant also trounced his Democrat opponent with 60%-plus of the vote (over 65% in both Lauderdale and Clarke counties), and 7 of the 8 state-wide offices continue to be held by the GOP. You may review the 2011 General Election results for any race in the state at the Mississippi Secretary of State’s elections web site.

That’s great Greg. A 64 member House majority. That shouldn’t be hard to take. And we thought election night that it was certainly 62 and maybe 63 but 64 is just outstanding. The news made Drudge yesterday.
